Floating Core: What does that mean?

Many paddles today have a floating core, where the central core material and the perimeter foam do not extend into the handle. But, is this better? Well, that depends. When the central core material extends into the handle, vibration is sent down into the handle. For some, this may be beneficial as they feel connected to the ball. For most, the vibration is not desirable and can aggravate elbow injuries. Many paddles have the central Core floating, but the perimeter foam extends into the handle. This hybrid type of core usually does not have the same level of vibration transmission as the former type, but may have more than a fully floating core. In short, these cores feel different and one should try them all and see what they prefer.
